Rare Case of Large Nasolabial Cyst Excision

Nasolabial cyst is non odontogenic cyst, 90%unilateral, 10% bilateral. Theories of original are:
1. Epithelial remnants of nasolacrimal duct.
2. Embryological detention from effusion of the epithelial of medial and lateral frontonasal process with maxillary process.
3. Possible trauma accelerating its formation.
Our case: 50yrs old female presented with 12 months of slow asymptomical swelling under left upper lip became tender for the last 2 moths, with increasing of nasal obstructions in the same side.
Symptoms/ Signs of nasolabial cysts: few cases are asymptomatic, most are presents:
1.Partial nasal obstruction 62.5%
2.Localised swelling in the nasal vestibule 50%.
3.Painful swelling (when infected 25%.
Diagnosis: MRI, CT scans (rounded homogeneous low density soft tissue.
Treatment: surgical excision
Trans nasal endoscopic marsupialization
PROS: Less pain, local anaesthesia.
CONS: small opening, fewer complications, recurrence.
Sublabial surgical excision.
PROS: effective method, faster recovery, can be done under GA, LA.

Conclusion:
Nasolabial cysts are rare embryogenical cysts mostly at females at 50’s, treatment of choice is surgical excision.
